There once was a Rabbit who made his way to the Olympic Games. Hares the story of how he got there.
There once was a rabbit named Rodney E. Rabbit. He always had a dream to be in the Hares Olympic Game and he didn’t want to be on just anything that was in the Hares Olympics he wanted to be on track. He always got a C in gym and it wasn’t because he did his push ups wrong, it was because he wasn’t a very fast runner. His speed limit was one lap per hour. He always said “I’m the fastest rabbit in the world!” but in jump school he found out that his classmates were just slow, last year, in 5th grade.
“So how was you first day of jump school?” asked his mother.
“It was horrible. Every one called me turtle, I even had to watch the Olympic Games when the turtle and the hare were racing and the hare won because he was faster than the turtle. He said that I was the turtle and that we’re having a race soon against another school soon and who ever finishes last that school will lose.” He cried.
“Well I guess you will have to start practicing. Run around the house until your dad gets back.”
“What? Dad gets home from work at nine o’ clock and it’s only four!!!!” he complained.
He did what he was told because his mother gave him the glare; the glare always meant you better do what you were told or you would get in loads of trouble.
So he ran for an hour until he fell down and scratched his knee.
“Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” he screamed
His mother came out yelling “what’s wrong!!”
She saw the blood dripping from his knee so she got out a wrap and a stretcher she asked her neighbor if they could help her carry the stretcher in to the house.
A couple of hours later they heard a “knock, knock, knock” it was their dad he had came home from work. Mama came to open the whole door.
“So how was your day?” asked his dad.
Then he saw his son laying down on the sofa with a wrap around his knee looking at him in a how do you think my day went face.
“I see that some one had an accident today” he said sarcastically.
Rodney huffed at his dad.
The next day at jump school his classmates made fun of his hurt leg, they kept on calling him rabbit foot. At gym nothing went any better. “You’re going to make us lose you wimp rabbit,” his coach said furiously as he broke his clipboard in equal halves.
“That’s symmetry.” Whispered Rodney
“What did you say?!”
“I said that’s symmetry.” He said a little louder.
“I don’t care what kind of science project that is all I care about is winning. The game is only about crushing the other!”
After jump school he ran and limped around the house until his dad came home.
“What are you doing running around the house? You know not to run around the house when you hurt your leg.”
“I’m sorry. I just didn’t want to be made fun of again. He whispered.
His dad smiled and said “keep on running.”
“What!”
“You said that you didn’t want to be made fun of any more. So, keep on running.”
“No!” Rodney said as if he was going to cry.
“Then come inside.”
“Fine!” he said angry.
“Where were you? I was so worried.” Mrs. Rabbit cried
The next day at jump school things went better. For one he wasn’t the last one any more. This time it was Jeremy Mathews who was called turtle. Everyone was calling him that except Rodney, he didn’t like it when rabbits called him turtle so why should he call him turtle. Soon Jeremy and Rodney became very good friends. They spent weeks running together.
Tomorrow was the day of the race, everyone was nervous. All that night Rodney kept talking and talking about the race. His parents had something to tell him to. Soon they got his attention and this is exactly what they said
“Rodney we’re having a bunny.”
“What! What is it, a boy or a girl?”
“It’s a girl. You’re going to have a bunny sister!”
Even with all this stuff going on this was the most exciting.
The next day at jump school instead of doing gym they did the race. Everyone was running furiously, but Rodney was jogging. Even though he was jogging he was in first. He crossed the finish line at 36 seconds. He just set a world record 42 laps in 36 seconds unbelievable!!!!!
This rabbit made his way to the Hares Olympics but this time he ran too much he could not stop running he ran off the sky in to the milky way and on the moon but then he saw a strange looking creature it was tall it had a round head and in something white but he didn’t have time to stop he ran back to the Olympic Games and finished last place. When he got home he found his parents with a little bunny his younger sister Rachel.
