You might have read last year's why kids think Halloween. Yes I meant to write the last sentence like that. But here is why because 1. We get free candy 2. Your parents have to buy you a costume 3. We get to go out late even if it's a schhol night even though it's not this year. So ask your kids if those three reasons are true or if you don't have one then remember when you were a kid and if those three reasons are why you loved Halloween. Because those are the reasons I loved Halloween and I'm still a kid. I'm dressing up as the queen of darkness.
Yours truley,

Thank you, Your Majesty, for this insight. Since I don't have kids anymore I have to think back to my childhood. Are you ready?
We usually made our costumes; no one sold them to us. At least half the fun was scaring each other as we made the rounds of the neighborhood, and treats were usually homemade goodies---not bought candy. It was great fun.
Hope you have a great time too.
What goes into a Queen of Darkness costume?
The stuff that goes into my costume is a black crown, a black dress, a pointy cape, (that looks like the one i snow white) and baggy eyes and dark lipstick. Now Goo look back in your childhood right now!
I remember about 2/3 store bought candy and 1/3 home-made treats. I still remember being allowed to go inside a stranger's house! Some things never change though - some body still gives out Tootsie Rolls even though they are just about the lowest thing on the candy hierarchy. I bet kids still try to make candy trades with the siblings too. David Sedaris has a wonderful essay about Halloween candy and the hoarding instinct. Hope yours went well - sounds like a great costume. A guy at my work safety pinned a tube sock to his back and called himself static cling.
